For Our Charlottesville Family
There are no words to adequately describe the anger at the recent tragedy in your city.
There are no words to adequately reflect the sorrow at the violence this evil has brought you.
There are no words sufficient to show the disgust at the behavior of these ignorant thugs, these would-be-yet-fake patriots, these vermin claiming superiority.
There are no words to adequately measure the shock of these acts; and the amazement upon remembering that this is supposed to be the 21st century.
No words that really work.
Yet here we are, and in our medium of radio, words are pretty much all we have.
So, we take what heart we can from those of you in Charlottesville who never stop standing up for what's right and decent, doing so unto the point of laying down their life.
We take what heart we can from the others like you across America who do the same and have done so for decades.
We take heart from the simple, powerful truth that there are more of us then of those who would commit such atrocities; and those who encourage, enable and support this evil.
And we offer that heart to you, Charlottesville.
Together, we shall endure, we shall persevere, we will see an end to this evil.
We have fought this battle before; we will again, and we will keep fighting… and WE WILL WIN.
Because there ARE more of us... and we are as one in our rejection of that evil.
We are Olympia Washington, and yet we are Charlottesville.
We have to be.
